Boxed Up!
Role: Creator / Lead Tech
Originated the concept for Boxed Up and helped lead its technical team from idea to Steam launch, coordinating the team of juniors, creating scripts and frameworks for the game, and also helping the design team.
I also created and managed the Steam page and applied updates and patches independently.

Role: Creator / Level Design & Mechanic Design
An Independent Project made for the Snappy Guru's 2025 game jam, features a unique system where the player must balance a light and darkness bar whilst platforming. A focus on mechanics design and level design.
This project ended up winning the community vote on the jam, and came 3rd in the judges choices. It is available on Itch.io
GAME JAM WINNER
Role: Creator / Level Designer
A University project in which I had to research TF2 maps, and design a new KOTH map using Hammer. Iteration and Documentation were key skills in the project. Designed to be a water treatment facility.

Scrap Hunters
Role: Junior Designer
Level Design, Enemy Design, Mechanic Design and Idea generation was used in my part of this larger project, I created enemy sheets, blocked out levels, and came up with the core abilities for each class
This project was made in a 20 person team, it received a first from the university.
Magic Steps
Role: Creator / Level & Mechanic Design
Can you make a tutorial with minimal button prompts and text? This project is the answer to that question.
Iteration and level design were the key in answering this. Made as my final year University Project, it received a High First.
Spark Fighters
Role: Design, Documentation and Idea Generation
Spark Fighters was a task to challenge my Idea generation. I have created an entirely fictional fighting game, and highlighted every key mechanic, usp and individual character along with move sets

Hello! I'm Daniel Burley a game designer with an interest in level and character mechanic design. I am a Graduate of the University Of Staffordshire. I also studied Games Design at Derby College for two years.
I first started designing games when I was 13, and started thinking about doing it way before that. I am experienced in Unreal Engine, Photoshop and C++
